Banana bajjis are very simple and easy to make at home. Raw banana fritters (aratikaya bajji) that are quite popular in south India. These deep fried snack served with tea.

Ingredients For Vazhakkai Bajji Recipe:

  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup besan four
  • 1/4 cup rice flour
  • pinch of baking soda
  • 1 tsp red chili powder or to taste
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • salt to taste
  • oil for deep fry

How To Make Raw Banana Bajji/ Aratikaya Bajji recipe:

  • Make a paste with garlic and red chili powder.
  • Take a wide bowl and add rice flour, besan flour, chili garlic paste, salt, baking soda and mix well with required quantity of water.
  • The batter should not be too thick nor too thin.
  • Heat kadai with oil.
  • Wash and cut the banana into thin or medium thick slices and immersed them in water until use.
  • Now take the vazhakkai slices (banana slices) from water and drain the water s much as you can. Dip and coat the slice into the batter and carefully drop in hot oil.
  • Deep fry on both sides on medium high flame until they turn into nice golden brown color.
  • Remove from oil and drain in paper towel to remove the excess of oil.
  • Now your easy and yummy vazhakkai bajji is ready to serve.
  • Serve hot or warm with coconut chutney.
