Poori Recipe – Deep fried puffy and soft bread made with whole wheat flour. This is one of the most popular Indian Breakfast Recipe. This is very easy to make and kids love this. The best accompaniment for poori is potato masala (aloo subzi or aloo bhaji).

Poori Recipe

Ingredients for Poori Recipe:

  • 2 cups wheat flour
  • 1 tsp oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • water as required to knead the dough

How To Make Soft And Puffy Pooris At Home With Step By Step Photos:

  • Take a wide bowl and add flour, salt and oil.
  • Mix well with your hand to make a crumbly mixture.
  • Add water little by little to make smooth and stiff dough. The dough should not be too soft or too hard to touch.
  • Knead well with your hand for few mins until the dough become smooth and soft.
  • Cover the dough with a lid and rest for 10-15 mins.
  • Make small lemon sized balls out of the dough.
  • Apply oil to the dough ball roll into circles with the help of a rolling pin. It should not be too thick or too thin.
  • Heat a kadai with enough oil to deep fry pooris.
  • When the oil is slowly slide the rolled puri into the hot oil.
  • With the back of the ladle, gently press in the center and along the edges and you will find it will puff.
  • Slowly flip over and fry the other side until they turn into nice golden brown color.
  • Remove from oil and place the pooris on paper towel to remove the excess oil.
  • Serve hot with potato masala (aloo subzi or aloo bhaji), Chole Masala, Veg Kolhapuri or any Chicken Curry.
