Mushroom Biryani Recipe – How to make mushroom biryani recipe

Ingredients for mushroom biryani:

  • 2 cups basmathi rice (cooked)
  • 200g button mushrooms
  • 1¬†onion, finely sliced
  • 1 tomato, finely chopped
  • 1 carrot, cut into small pieces (optional)
  • 10 beans, cut into small pieces (optional)
  • 1/2 cup peas, cooked (optional)
  • 2 green chillies,¬†cut lengthwise
  • 2″ ginger root
  • 4 garlic cloves
  • 1 tsp chilli powder or to taste
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • 3 cups water
  • 1″ cinnamon stick
  • 1 cardamom
  • 2 cloves
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 10 cashew nuts, optional
  • 1/4 cup coriander leaves, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup mint leaves, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp ghee/oil
  • salt to taste

How To Make Mushroom Biryani (mushroom biriyani):

  • Clean and wash basmati rice with plenty of water and soak with 3 cups of water for 30 mins.
  • Wash and slice the button mushrooms and keep aside.
  • Make a paste with ginger, garlic and red chilli powder and keep aside.
  • Heat a pressure cooker with ghee. Add cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, bayleaf and saute for a min.
  • Add cashew nut and saute till they turn into nice golden yellow color.
  • Add finely sliced onions, green chillies, required quantity of salt and saute till they turn into translucent.
  • Add finely chopped tomatoes and saute till tomatoes become juicy.
  • Add ginger garlic red chilli powder paste and saute till the raw smell disappears or the oil separates from the mixture.
  • Add chopped carrots, beans and mushrooms and saute for 2-4 mins.
  • Add peas and mix well. Now add soaked rice with water and 1 cup coconut milk.
  • Stir well and check the salt. Finally add chopped chopped coriander leaves and chopped mint (pudhina) leaves.
  • Once again stir well and close the pressure cooker with lid and cook.
  • When the first whistle comes then reduce the flame to low and cook for further 10 mins.
  • Switch off the stove and remove the cooker from stove and keep aside.
  • Once the pressure is off, remove the lid. Mix gently and transfer into serving bowl.
  • Now your very easy and tasty mushroom biryani is ready to serve.
  • Serve Hot or warm with raita, potato roast or chicken curry, etc…
