Bread Bonda Recipe

Ingredients for bread bonda recipe:

  • 8-10 white bread slices
  • 3-4 medium size potatoes
  • 1/2 cup fresh or frozen peas
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 1 tsp finely chopped ginger
  • 2 green chillies( finely chopped) or to taste
  • 1/4 tsp chilli powder or to taste
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
  • 1/2 tsp urad dal (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp channa dal (optional)
  • 2 tbsp broken cashew nuts ( optional)
  • few coriander leaves (finely chopped)
  • few mit leaves (finely chopped)
  • salt to taste

Bread Bonda Recipe

Potato stuffing or aloo masala preparation:

  • Pressure cook the potatoes and peas for 3 whistles or till soft.
  • Peel the potatoes skin and roughly mash and keep aside.
  • Heat a pan with oil and add urad dal, channa dal (kadala paruppu/ senaga pappu) and cashew nuts.
  • Saute till they turn into golden yellow colour.
  • Then add chopped onions and saute till they become transparent.
  • Add finely chopped green chillies, finely chopped ginger and saute for 2-4 mins.
  • Now add chilli powder, turmeric powder and garam masala and saute for few seconds.
  • Then add mashed potatoes, cooked peas and mix well.
  • Add required quantity of salt and mix well.
  • Then add finely chopped coriander leaves, finely chopped mint leaves and once again mix well.
  • Cook on low flame for 5-8 mins or till the mixture becomes little dry.
  • Finally check the salt and remove from heat.
  • Allow it to cool for some time. Then make small lemon sized ball out of this aloo masala mixture and keep aside.
  • Heat a kadai with oil
  • Now take the bread slices and trim the sides with the help of knife.
  • Take the bread slice and dip in water and take out immediately.
  • Gently squeeze the excess water with your palms.
  • Now place the potato stuffing ball (aloo masala) in the middle of the bread slice and carefully close the edges.
  • Slowly leave them in oil. Cook in medium flame to get nice crispy bonda.
  • Fry them until they turn into nice golden brown in color.
  • Remove from oil and place the bread bondas in a paper towel to drain the excess oil.
  • Now your easy and tasty kids favourite snack bread bonda is ready to serve.
  • Serve hot or warm with sauce or ketchup.
